Meet the Oceanside Team Behind Otto’s Garage Door

We’re a small crew, and that’s the point. No revolving door of subcontractors. No mystery person showing up at your house. When you call Otto’s Garage Door, the person who answers the phone knows the person who’ll be standing in your driveway, because we work together every day. We’ve been doing garage doors in Oceanside since 2004, and most of us have been here long enough to have fixed doors on the same street twice. We show up on time, we carry the owner’s name on our shirts, and we treat your garage like it’s our own, because on a long enough timeline, it probably will be one of ours too.

Otto Reinhardt, Owner

Otto founded Otto’s Garage Door in 2004 and has been answering the phone himself ever since. He’s the one who quotes your job on the call and holds that price at your door. He’s worked on every major brand out there, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Craftsman, and Raynor, and he’ll tell you the same thing on every call: a door is 200 pounds riding on two springs, so respect it. When he’s not under a door, he’s usually thinking about door springs. He counts spring cycles the way you count tire miles, and he’ll tell you what’s left on yours. You’ll see him at the hardware store on Saturday. Say hi.

Marco D., Lead Technician

Marco has been turning wrenches on garage doors for over fifteen years, nine of them with Otto’s. He handles most of the spring replacements and cable repairs across Oceanside, and he’s seen enough rusted bottom brackets to diagnose one by feel. Marco is certified on LiftMaster and Genie openers, and he’s the one who talks through safety sensor alignment with homeowners until they actually understand it, not just until the light stops blinking. He keeps a cooler of cold water in his truck for the summer months because he knows what a 90-degree day in an Oceanside garage feels like after hour three. If Marco tells you your opener is straining, believe him. The problem is almost never the opener.

Rachel S., Senior Installer

Rachel has installed over 800 doors in North County since joining Otto in 2016. She specializes in new door installation and full track replacement, and she’s the person you want measuring your opening, because she gets it right the first time. Rachel is trained on Clopay and Amarr product lines and handles the heavy steel and wood carriage doors that most crews dread. She once talked a homeowner out of buying a door that wouldn’t have fit their header, which saved them about three thousand dollars and a very awkward return. Rachel brings her dog to the shop on Fridays and keeps a tape measure in her back pocket at all times, even off the clock.

Dana K., Service Coordinator

Dana is the person who answers your call at 7 a.m. or 9 p.m. and gets you on the schedule without making you repeat yourself twice. She’s been with Otto since 2018 and knows the service area street by street, which means she can tell you whether Otto or Marco is closer to your house before she even checks the map. Dana keeps the parts inventory organized and makes sure the trucks roll out with the right springs, rollers, and openers on board so nobody has to make a second trip. She’s also the one who reminds everyone it’s Senior & Veteran 10%, always, because that discount doesn’t apply itself. If you call and she says someone will be there between noon and two, they’ll be there at 11:50.

Chris T., Apprentice

Chris came on in 2023 after two years in residential construction, and he’s earning his stripes the right way, by hauling doors and watching the old hands. He’s learning spring safety, opener wiring, and the fine art of not stripping a lag bolt in a 40-year-old header. Chris rides with Marco most days, and he’s already got a knack for spotting worn rollers and frayed cables before they fail. He’s also the fastest person on the crew with a torque wrench, which matters more than you’d think. Give him another year and he’ll be the one quoting your job on a Saturday morning.

One Standard, Every Job

Every person on this crew works to the same rule: the price quoted on the phone is the price on the invoice. Otto doesn’t revise numbers at your driveway, and neither does anyone who wears the Otto’s Garage Door shirt. The 90-Day Done Right Promise applies to every job, big or small, and it’s written on every invoice, if it’s not done right, one call brings Otto back, no runaround. Our techs are background-checked and uniformed, and they carry the owner’s name on their back, not a national dispatch center’s logo.
